GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA – Penn State improved to 2-1 in the spring and 2-3 overall thanks to a 9-0 sweep of non-conference foe Gwynedd Mercy University on Friday.
The Nittany Lions had little trouble in doubles' action as the tandems of
Adrian Condes and
Philip Belotserkovsky (8-1) and
Andrew Brown and
Adam Moskal (8-2) dropped just a combined three games in their eight-game pro-set triumphs.
All five singles' matches that took place were straight set victories for Penn State Abington. Condes won 6-1, 6-1 at the number one flight while Brown was 6-0, 6-2 victory at second singles. Belotserkovsky dropped just one game at number three while Moskal earned a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at the fourth spot. Freshman
Kyle Elliott picked up his first collegiate win with a 6-0, 6-3 score over Brian O'Donnell at fifth singles.
Elliott and
Jeevesh Gupta were awarded a forfeit victory at third doubles and
Kevin Shen picked up a forfeit win at sixth singles.
The Nittany Lions are right back in action on Saturday, March 26 when they host Cairn University at 11 a.m.
