Abington Falls to St. Mary’s in United East Semifinals

Hershey, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's tennis team saw its season come to an end after the fourth-seeded Nittany Lions fell to top-seeded St. Mary's College, 5-0, in the United East Conference (UEC) semifinals on Friday evening at the Hershey Racquet Club.

How It Happened
 
* The Seahawks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the match after taking all three doubles competions. 
 
* St. Mary's clinched the match with shutout victories at first and third singles. 
 
* The second singles match between sophomore Tinatin Sadzaglishvili and Hannah Gorel was still in the first set when the match was called.  Gorel was leading, 5-2, at the time.
 
* Singles competitions four through six had no results.
 
Abington in the Postseason
The Nittany Lions are now 6-10 all-time in the United East/NEAC Tournament.  Abington has qualified for the postseason every year since joining Division III in 2011-12 except for the 2019-20 season when the tournament was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
 
All-Time Series vs. St. Mary's
Today marked just the second meeting between Abington and St. Mary's with both match ups coming this season, including the regular season and this evening in the postseason.
