Abington Falls to Elizabethtown, 8-1

Elizabethtown, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's tennis team continued its fall schedule at Elizabethtown College on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Courts.  The Blue Jays came away with an 9-1 victory over the Nittany Lions.

How It Happened
 
* Elizabethtown picked up all three points in doubles play.  At first doubles, Laurie Flemming and Elisa Steinhardt fell just short against the Blue Jays' Olivia Richards and Haley Bishop by the score of 8-6.  Elizabethtown registered a shutout victory at second doubles and earned the point at third doubles by default.
 
* In singles play, Flemming had another dominating performance as she defeated Richards at first singles in straight sets by the score of 6-0, 6-1.  It marked Flemming's second straight victory to start the season.
 
* Elizabethtown went on to take the rest of the singles competitions to complete the 8-1 match victory.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked just the second meeting between Abington and Elizabethtown in the all-time series with the Blue Jays winning both matches.
 
Next Up
Abington will wrap up its fall season on Tuesday, Oct. 10 as the Nittany Lions travel to face Immaculata University in a non-conference contest.  Match time is set for 3 p.m.
