Abington Falls to Stevenson in Non-Conference Action

Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's soccer team dropped a non-conference contest against visiting Stevenson University by the score of 6-0 on Wednesday afternoon at Memorial Field.

How It Happened
 
* Stevenson had six different players score goals in the game, including four in the first half.  Kamille Purcell scored the Mustangs first goal in the 15th minute and was followed by scores from Karly Sheahan (21'), Shania Hyatt (27') and Samantha Wilson (35').
 
* The Mustangs added to their total with two second half scores from Ericka Kitzinger in the 79th minute and Marin McDonald in the 88th minute.
 
Inside the Numbers
 
* Abington sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Wilfrid made four saves in net in the first half and freshman Abby Brunnell made five stops in the second half as the duo split time in net.
 
* Purcell led the Mustangs with three points on one goal and one assist, while Madison Rytina had two assists on the afternoon.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked just the second meeting between Abington and Stevenson.  The two teams faced one another last year down in Maryland with the Mustangs winning the first-ever matchup.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 7 as the Nittany Lions resume United East play with a road contest at Penn College.  Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
