Abington Drops Non-Conference Contest at Chestnut Hill

Philadelphia, Pa. –  The Penn State Abington women's basketball team dropped a non-conference contest at Division II Chestnut Hill College by the score of 96-44 on Monday afternoon at Sorgenti Arena.

How It Happened
 
* Chestnut Hill led from beginning to end as the Griffins scored the game's first six points.  The Nittany Lions made it a three-point game at the 6:17 mark when senior Angela Sanders knocked down a three-pointer to make the score 10-7.  From there, Chestnut Hill responded with a three of its own that led to a 8-2 run to expand the lead to 18-9.
 
* The Griffins led 28-15 entering the second quarter.  The home team outscored the Nittany Lions, 22-10, in the second frame to increase the lead to 50-25 by the half.  Chestnut Hill connected on 9-of-12 from deep range in the opening half and finished the game with 14 three-pointers.
 
* Chestnut Hill shot just shy of 50-percent from the field for the game and outscored the Nittany Lions, 46-19, in the second half.
 
Inside the Numbers
 
* Freshman Amirah Hackney led the Nittany Lions with a team-high 19 points to go along with five rebounds.
 
* Sanders also scored in double-figures as she totaled 13 points. 
 
* For Chestnut Hill, Bridie McCann led all scorers with 25 points (8-12 FG | 5-8 3FG), while Avery White totaled eight points and 11 assists.  Kaitlyn Carter filled the box score with seven points, 16 rebounds and eight assists.

Today marked the first-ever meeting between Abington and Chestnut Hill.
 
Next Up
Abington will wrap up the calendar year on Wednesday, Dec. 20 as the Nittany Lions travel to face Immaculata University in a non-conference contest.  Tip-off is set for 12 p.m.
