South Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's tennis team dropped a non-conference match at Clarks Summit University by the score of 5-4 on Friday afternoon at the Birchwood Tennis Club.

How It Happened
 
* Abington took two of the three doubles competitions to open the match with a 2-1 advantage before singles play began.  The Nittany Lions took first doubles by the score of 8-1 as the duo of juniors Elizabeth Turner and Tinatin Sadzaglishvili cruised past Naomi Sadowitz and Melanie Stabler. 
 
* In second doubles, junior Elisa Steinhardt and freshman Soniyah Youngblood teamed up for an 8-5 victory over Heidi Floyd and Ksenya Laresen-Sorter.  Steinhardt and Youngblood trailed 4-3 in the match before winning five of the last six games to pull off the win.
 
* In singles play, Sadzaglishvili earned the point at first flight as she defeated Sadowitz in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1.
 
* Patterson also picked up a win in singles play as she defeated Natasha Karp at sixth singles in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-4.
 
* Clarks Summit earned points at second, third, fourth and fifth singles.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the first-ever match between Abington and Clarks Summit.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Tuesday, April 4 as the Nittany Lions host Lancaster Bible College to open United East Conference play.  Match time is set for 1 p.m. at the Abington Tennis Courts.
