How It Happened

* In the first set the Nittany Lions opened with a 6-0 with freshman Jayla Hickey and sophomore Brianna Brozo recording bookend kills between four errors by Bryn Athyn.  Abington led the set by as many as 11 points at 22-11 after another kill by Hickey.  The Nittany Lions took the set 25-14 after scoring three of the final three points with senior Taylor LaPage recording the set-point with a kill.

* The Nittany Lions scored 15 of their 25 points in the set off kills, while the defense limited Bryn Athyn to just three kills and a negative attack percentage (-0.077).  Despite holding the Lions in-check offensively, the Nittany Lions found themselves trailing 21-18 late in the set.  Abington fired off five straight points with Brozo and sophomore Alyssa Flickinger each recording a pair of kills in the run to lead 23-21. After an error on the offensive side for the Nittany Lions, they recovered with back-to-back kills from Flickinger and Hickey to take the set 25-22.

* Abington trailed 11-10 midway through the third set but a quick 5-1 run by the Nittany Lions gave them a 15-12 lead.  They would never relinquish the lead despite Bryn Athyn keeping within a point or two of the lead down the stretch.  The Nittany Lions led 21-19 and followed with three straight points, including two kills by Flickinger to lead 24-19.  Bryn Athyn took advantage of three errors by the Nittany Lions to come within one point of tying the set at 24-23, however a service error by the Lions gave Abington the set victory 25-23.
