Abington Wraps Up Regular Season with Senior Day

Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's soccer team closed out the regular season with a 1-1 draw against visiting Penn State Harrisburg in United East Conference (UEC) action on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Field.  Prior to the game, the Nittany Lions recognized their eight seniors in part of Senior Day festivities.  This year's senior class included, Eljo Agolli, Arsene Bado, Lucas Carneiro, Christian Cardenas, Sean Horvay, Joe McCuen, Benell Saygarn and Brendan Werner.

How It Happened
 
* Abington scored the game's first goal in the 24th minute to take a 1-0 lead.  Sophomore Dylan Walker set up the play with a throw-in from the far-right side into the box.  Sophomore Hugh Nungessor flicked the ball up and Horvay finished the play with his second goal of the season.
 
* The Nittany Lions held the lead deep into the game, but Harrisburg struck in the 79th minute to tie the score with less than 12 minutes to play in half.  Kobe Harris scored the game-tying goal marking his seventh goal of the season.

* Werner recorded three saves in net for Abington and in the processed surpassed Esteban Leon for fourth place on the all-time saves list.  Werner now was 112 career saves.  Leon recorded 111 saves in his two-year career (2018-2019).
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 10th meeting between Abington and Harrisburg since the start of the 2011 season.  Abington is now 3-5-2 versus Harrisburg in the all-time series.
 
Postseason Bound
Abington finished conference play 7-0-1 and earned the No. 2 seed in next week's United East Tournament.  The Nittany Lions received a first-round bye and will host the winner of the #7 Rosemont College/#10 Lancaster Bible College first round matchup in the quarterfinals on Saturday, Nov. 2.  More information will be provided when available.
 
 
Did You Know
Abington is 14-0-2 in its last 16 United East regular season contests.  The team's last conference defeat was against Lancaster Bible back on Oct. 15, 2022.
