How It Happened

* Abington faced a 13-point deficit midway through the first half after Hollique Johnson gave the Seahawks a 27-14 advantage with a jumper.  However, over the next two and a half minutes of game action, the Nittany Lions chipped away at the lead to make it a six-point game.  Redshirt sophomore Christian Niles split a pair of free throws to make the score 29-23 at the 8:08 mark.

* Despite the rally by the Nittany Lions, St. Mary's followed with a 10-3 run of its own to increase the lead back to 13 points (39-26) with 5:31 to play until halftime.  The Seahawks finished the half with a 52-39 advantage.

* The Nittany Lions started the second half hot cutting the lead down to five points (54-49) thanks to a 10-2 run over the first four minutes of the half.  Fifth-year guard Alex Podolski capped the run with a layup score.

* Abington came within two points of tying the game after back-to-back possessions netted a mini 5-0 run.  Junior Myles Haynes knocked down a three-pointer before Niles connected on a jumper to make the score 67-65 at the 8:01 mark.

* The Seahawks expanded the two-point lead back to double-digits over the next three minutes.  Gary Grant converted a three-point play with his free throw making the score 79-69 with less than five minutes to play in regulation.

* Down the stretch the Nittany Lions cut the deficit back down to two points once again when senior Jake Schalki knocked down a clutch three-pointer with :25 seconds showing on the clock.  On the ensuing possession by the Seahawks, Grant split a pair of free throws as junior Kobe Devine grabbed the important defensive board on the back end.

* The Seahawks' defense made a defensive stop and as a result the Nittany Lions were forced to foul with just about two seconds remaining.  Micah Henry split his two free throw attempts to give St. Mary's an 85-81 lead.  The Nittany Lions were unable to get a final shot off before the clock expired.
