Abington Falls to Harrisburg in United East Volt Division Final

Middletown, Pa.  – The Penn State Abington women's basketball team came up short in the United East Conference (UEC) Volt Division Final against top-seeded Penn State Harrisburg by the score of 86-63 on Wednesday night at the Capital Union Building.  The Nittany Lions, appearing in their first conference final since 2015, ends its season at 13-15.

How It Happened
 
* Abington erased a 15-point second quarter deficit after trailing 28-13 at the 8:02 mark.  The Nittany Lions closed out the final eight minutes of the quarter on a 24-7 run to lead 37-35 at the half.  Junior Kaya Mobley drained a pair of three-pointers in the final :90 seconds to cap the scoring in the half.
 
* In the third quarter, Harrisburg opened with a 19-5 run to build a 12-point advantage by the 4:04 mark.  Jayla Galbreath hit a three-pointer to make the score 54-42.  Harrisburg went on to lead 63-43 by quarters end. Harrisburg outscored Abington, 28-6, in the quarter.
 
Inside the Numbers
 
* Senior Angela Sanders led all scorers with a career-high 38 points to go along with 12 rebounds to record her 14th double-double of the season and 38th of her career.  Sanders also had three steals and two blocks on defense.  In 74 career games, Sanders finishes her career third all-time with 1,392 points and is tops in the record book with 758 career rebounds.
 
* Freshman Layla Reid also scored in double-figures as she totaled 11 points (5-9 FG) and four rebounds.
 
* Freshman Amirah Hackney finished with 11 rebounds.
 
* Mobley totaled six points, seven rebounds and five assists.
 
* Freshman Amina Reid led the team with seven assists to go along with four boards.
 
* For Harrisburg, Ciani Redd-Howard finished the night with 24 points and 11 rebounds, while Giahny Correa came off the bench to score 24 points.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the 13th meeting between Abington and Harrisburg since the start of the 2011-12 season.  Abington is now 1-12 versus Harrisburg in the all-time series.  Tonight was the first-ever meeting between the two teams in the postseason.
 
Abington in the Postseason
The Nittany Lions are now 7-5 all-time in the postseason after making their sixth appearance in the program's Division III era.  Abington has now appeared in the conference championship twice (2015 & 2024).
