Abington Falls to Rutgers-Camden in Non-Conference Tilt

Camden, N.J. – The Penn State Abington baseball team dropped a non-conference road contest against Rutgers University-Camden by the score of 9-3 on Friday afternoon at the Camden Athletic Complex.

How It Happened
 
* Camden jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning after back-to-back two-out run scoring hits by Ryan Nutley and Diego Salazar. The Scarlet Raptors pushed through a run in the second after an RBI groundout by Jacob Watson to increase their lead to 4-0.
 
* Abington got two runs back in the top of the third inning to cut the deficit in half at 4-2.  Freshman Donato Incollingo and senior Eric Rollins led the inning off with back-to-back singles.  Both would later score on base hits by senior Shane Fillman and junior Josh McGee.
 
* Camden responded with a run in the bottom of the third and then followed with a pair of runs in the fourth to increase its lead to 7-2.  Salazar delivered a two-run double in the fourth.
 
* Abington its third run of the game in the sixth with senior Josh Baar pushing across McGee for the RBI.   
 
Inside the Numbers

* McGee, who leads the team in hitting with a .429 average, finished the game 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. 
 
* Incollingo also had a multi-hit game as he went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored.
 
* Junior Owen Lynch pitched 1.2 shutout innings of relief for the Nittany Lions allowing zero hits and striking out one.
 
* For Camden, Salazar finished 3-for-4 with a run and two RBI.  Auggie Uzdanovics and Evan Carbone each had two hits in the game.
 
* Ethan Carpenter (2-0) earned the win for the Scarlet Raptors as he struck out eight batters in six innings of work while allowing three runs.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the eighth meeting between Abington and Camden since the start of the 2011 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 1-7 versus the Scarlet Raptors in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Sunday, March 3 as the Nittany Lions arrive in sunny Florida for the RussMatt Baseball Invitational.  Abington will take on Concordia University (Ill.) at 4:30 p.m.
