Abington Falls to Nationally Ranked No. 16 Rowan

Davenport, Fla. – The Penn State Abington baseball team dropped a non-conference contest to nationally ranked No. 16 Rowan University by the score 12-3 on Sunday afternoon at the RussMatt Invitational at Northeast Regional Park.

How It Happened
 
* Rowan scored three runs in the top half of the first inning to grab an early lead.  Dylan Maria drove in a pair of runs with a double before scoring on a base hit by Jason Morgan.
 
* The Nittany Lions got one of the runs back in the bottom of the first when junior Jake Fallers connected on a two-out hit to left scoring senior Shane Fillman
 
* The Profs scored three runs in the second to expand their lead to 6-1.  Phil Sedalis had a two-run single in the inning.  Rowan went on to score single runs in the third, fourth and sixth innings to make the score 8-2.
 
* Rowan capped its scoring in the seventh with its third three-run inning of the game.  Nick Struble drove in a pair of runs with a double and later scored in the inning on a wild pitch.
 
* Redshirt senior Ja'nai Vaughan got the Nittany Lions back on the board thanks to a two-run blast in the bottom of the seventh.
 
Inside the Numbers
 
* Fillman finished the game 2-for-4 with a run for the Nittany Lions.
 
* Vaughan, who homered in the seventh, finished 1-for-4 with a run and two RBI.  It marked his first home run in an Abington uniform.
 
* Freshman Donato Incollingo also had an extra base hit as he finished the game 1-for-3 with a double.
 
* Freshman Holden McKinley made his collegiate debut and pitched a scoreless ninth inning while striking out two batters.
 
* For Rowan, Sedalis went 4-for-6 with three RBI, while Jason Morgan went 3-for-5.  The Profs as a team collected 17 hits with eight being doubles.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 11th meeting between Abington and Rowan since the start of the 2013 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 3-8 versus the Profs in the all-time series.  Both teams will meet again later in the season on April 9 in Glassboro, N.J.
 
Next Up
Abington wraps up its Florida trip on Monday, March 11 as the Nittany Lions face Rutgers-Newark in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 10:30 a.m.
