Abington Takes Down Rosemont, 3-0

Bryn Mawr, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's volleyball team made quick work of Rosemont College as the Nittany Lions came away with a 3-0 victory over the Ravens in United East Conference (UEC) action on Saturday afternoon at the Hirsh Community Center.

How It Happened
 
* Abington led 11-9 in the first half and went on to score 13 straight points to close out the set for the 25-9 victory. During the final surge, sophomore Ellie Van Otten recorded three aces while junior Zayna Jamaladdin had three kills.
 
* The Nittany Lions took the second set by the same score of 25-9.  Abington jumped out to a 9-2 lead and never looked back. Abington led the set by as many as 14 points after Van Otten recorded a kill to make the score 23-7.
 
* In the third set the Nittany Lions scored 15 of the final 16 points after leading 10-3 in the set.  Freshman Shelleece Genaille recorded all six of her aces in the match during that final run.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* As a team, the Nittany Lions recorded a season-high 26 aces.  Junior Brynn Atkins totaled a career-high seven aces, while Genaille added six as the duo combined for 14 aces.
 
* Sophomore Hailey Revak finished with eight aces and three digs.
 
* For Valley Forge, Pearl Smith totaled a match-high five kills.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 13th meeting between Abington and Rosemont since the start of the 2011 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 12-1 versus the Ravens in the all-time series.

Abington returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 14 as the Nittany Lions host Penn College in a United East contest.  Match time is set for 7 p.m.
