Abington Drops Non-Conference Match to Mighty Macs

Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's tennis team dropped a non-conference contest to Immaculata University by the score of 5-2 on Saturday afternoon at the Abington Tennis Courts on campus.

How It Happened

* Immaculata took the team point after doubles competitions as the Mighty Macs were victorious at first doubles at 6-2 and second doubles at 6-1.  Abington won third doubles by forfeit.
 
* At second singles, senior Soniyah Youngblood fell short against Hailey Elwell 6-3 in both sets.  Youngblood, along with junior Sevara Tursunboeva, each won six games.  Tursunboeva fell short versus Elizabeth Madsen, 6-4, 6-2. 
 
* Abington earned both its team points at fifth and sixth singles by forfeit.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the third meeting between Abington and Immaculata since the start of the 2018-19 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 0-3 versus the Mighty Macs in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington wraps up the fall portion of its schedule on Tuesday, Oct. 21 as the Nittany Lions travel to face Penn State Brandywine in a non-conference contest.  Match time is set for 3 p.m.
