Abington Falls to Wildcats in United East Quarterfinals

Williamsport, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's soccer team saw its season come to a close after falling to the third-seeded Penn College Wildcats in the quarterfinals of the United East Conference (UEC) championships on Saturday afternoon at UPMC Field.  The Nittany Lions, making their third straight postseason appearance, finish the season 6-10-2 overall.

How It Happened
 
* The Wildcats' Sara Darlington recorded a first half hat-trick as she scored the first three goals of the game.  Darlington's first goal came in the 6th minute and then much later in the half she recorded back-to-back scores in the 38th and 40th minutes.  Brooke Klinger capped the scoring in the opening half with a goal in the 44th minute as the Wildcats led 4-0 at the half.
 
* The Penn College defense held Abington to just five shots, including three on-goal.
 
* The Wildcats added a pair of goals in the second half.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the 13th meeting between Abington and Penn College since the start of the 2014 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 3-8-2 versus the Wildcats in the all-time series.
 
Abington in the Postseason
The Nittany Lions were making their third straight appearance in the postseason and its 10th overall since joining Division III in 2011.  Abington is now 5-6-3 in the conference tournament.
