How It Happened

* Abington entered the ninth inning trailing 5-0 and needed some late inning heroics to pull off a ninth inning rally.  The inning started off well with junior Cory DiMario leading off with a walk.  Senior Shane Fillman then followed with a double to left-center field as DiMario came across the score.

* Three batters later the bases were loaded with senior Gaetan Grandelli drawing a walk and sophomore Donato Incollingo reaching with a base hit to right field.  With one out in the inning, senior Josh McGee and redshirt junior Garrett Garofalo were hit by pitches that resulted in an RBI situation for both as the Highlanders' lead was cut to 5-3.

* Cairn's Greg Jessup recovered and ended up striking out the next two batters to close out the game and halt the Nittany Lions' potential come-back bid.

* The Highlanders opened the game with a run in the first and then pushed across four runs in the fourth. Tyler Warr and Zach Bauers recorded back-to-back two-run hits in the inning.

Inside the Box Score

* Fillman finished the game 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI.  With his two hits, Fillman now has 96 for his Abington career and is four shy of 100.

* DiMario also had multiple hits in the game as he went 2-for-3 with one run.  He also drew a pair of walks.

* Sophomore Derek Aub and freshman Cade Michalski each pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

* For Cairn, Warr finished 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Bauers went 2-for-4 with two RBI.  Dylan Jackson finished 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Ethan Fineman (5-1) picked up his fifth win of the season after pitching six scoreless innings.
