Battle of the Lions Ends in Scoreless Draw

Reading, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's soccer team finished in a scoreless draw as the Nittany Lions opened the new season on the road against the Lions of Albright College in a non-conference contest on Friday night.

How It Happened
 
* It was a defensive battle topped with impressive goalkeeping on both sides.  Junior Kayla Kulp made seven saves in net in her Abington debut.  Kulp made seven saves in the game, including six stops in the second half.
 
* Kulp made a clutch stop in the 89th minute to keep the game scoreless.  Albright's Daiveni Fisher ripped a shot towards the bottom-center of the net but was rejected by Kulp.
 
* Minutes earlier, Abington had an opportunity to take the lead in the 88th minute.  Junior Nayeska Ravelo fired a shot at the bottom-right of the net, but Albright's keeper, Alexis Solt, make the save.  Solt finished the game with six saves.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Ravelo finished the game with three shots with all three on-target.  Sophomore Kaitlyn Frank also totaled three shots in the game and had two on-goal.
 
* For Albright, Fisher accounted for nine of the team's 16 shots in the game.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the second meeting between Abington and Albright and the first since 2017.  The Nittany Lions are now 0-1-1 versus the Lions in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Saturday as the team travels to face Eastern University in another non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 3 p.m.
