Abington and Haverford Finish in Scoreless Tie

Abington, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's soccer team recorded its second straight draw as the Nittany Lions finished in a scoreless tie against visiting Haverford College in a non-conference contest on Wednesday afternoon at Memorial Field.

How It Happened
 
* Senior goalkeeper Brendan Werner made six saves in the game on his way to his 13th career shutout and first of the season.  Werner made back-to-back saves in the 50th and 51st minutes to keep the score tied at 0-0.  Haverford recorded seven shots in the second half with three on-goal.  The Fords' final shot of the game came in the 81st minute with Werner making a stop for his sixth and final save to preserve the tie.
 
* Haverford's defense held Abington to just five shots in the game and just one on-target.  The Fords' keeper Grayson Benson earned the shutout as well with one save.
 
* Freshman Aramis Shire had the Nittany Lions' lone shot on-goal which came in the 22nd minute.
 
* Junior Laurence Narcisi led Abington with two shots.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked just the second meeting between Abington and Haverford since the start of the 2011 season.  The Nittany Lions are now 0-1-1 versus the Fords in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 13 as the Nittany Lions host Shenandoah University in a non-conference contest.  Game time is set for 1 p.m.
