Reid’s Triple-Double Sparks Victory Over Manor

Abington, Pa. – Penn State Abington junior Amina Reid recorded her first career triple-double and the program's third in the Division III era as the women's basketball team defeated Manor College, 108-42, in a non-conference contest on Tuesday night at the Abington Athletic Building.  Reid filled the box score with 21 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds.  The team's 108 points sets a new single game record breaking the previous total of 107 set just last week against the University of Valley Forge.

How It Happened
 
* Abington dominated from beginning to end after scoring the game's first 12 points.  Manor cut the deficit down to nine (18-9) at the two-minute mark of the opening quarter but junior Amirah Hackney scored the final eight points of the frame to give Abington a 26-9 advantage.  Hackney scored 16 of her game-high 32 points in the first 10 minutes.
 
* In the second quarter the Abington offense continued onslaught by outscoring the Bluejays, 30-15, to take a 56-24 lead into the half. 
 
* The Nittany Lions shot over 50-percent from the field in all four quarters and finished the game with a season-best 55.3-percent shooting.
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Reid recorded the team's third double-double in the Division III era and the first since the 2018-19 season.  She finished with a season-high 21 points to go along with 12 assists and 11 rebounds. In addition, Reid made seven steals on defense increasing her career total to 236.
 
* Hackney finished with a game-high 32 points (13-19 FG | 5-9 3FG) to go along with six rebounds and four steals.
 
* Senior Nia Newman also scored in double-figures as she totaled 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field.  Newman also grabbed seven rebounds and had a pair of steals.
 
* Junior Sereniti Minor recorded a season-high 12 points (5-8 FG) to go along with four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
 
* Sophomore Tarianda Washington added nine points and eight rebounds.
 
* For Manor, Kyjanae Cooper scored a team-high 23 points to go along with a team-best nine rebounds.  Faith Darlington added nine points.
 
Triple Threat
Reid joins fellow standouts Sydney Barrow and Shayna Rodriguez to record a triple-double in the program's Division III era.  Barrow totaled 11 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds versus Penn College in 2019 and Rodriguez registered 17 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds against Penn State Berks in 2017.
 
All-Time Series
Tonight marked the first-ever meeting between Abington and Manor.

Abington returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 21 as the Nittany Lions resume United East Conference play with a home contest against Cairn University.  Game time is set for 7 p.m.
