How It Happened

* Abington trailed majority of the first half and faced a seven-point deficit early in the third quarter after Cedar Crest's Analyse Rios scored a layup basket to make the score 32-25 at the 8:38 mark.  However, Abington began chipping away at the deficit and turned a seven-point hole into a seven-point advantage thanks to a 20-3 run.  Senior Nia Newman capped the run with a basket with :17 seconds to play in the quarter as Abington led 45-38.  The Falcons hit a pair of free throws to make the score 45-40 to close out the quarter.

* In the fourth quarter, the Nittany Lions never relinquished the lead but the Falcons did tie the score at 53-53 after Rios connected on two free throws with less than five minutes to play.  Abington responded with back-to-back scores on its next two possessions to lead 57-53.

* In the final minute, Cedar Crest made things interesting when Rios scored a layup to bring the Falcons to within one at 60-59.  Junior Amina Reid then split a pair of free throws and Newman grabbed a key offensive board forcing the Falcons to foul again.  Reid then split another pair of free throws to give Abington a 62-59 lead with :11 seconds remaining.

* Outside a timeout, the Falcons managed to get off a shot to potentially tie the game but the shot fell short as Newman grabbed the rebound to secure the win.
