How It Happened

* Abington won all three doubles competitions and as a result earned the team point for doubles.  Junior Jana Zollner and freshman Lilly Downey improved to 4-0 as doubles partners as the duo defeated Neumann's Sha'xaria Gordon and Busayo Lawal, 6-0, at first doubles.

* At second doubles, senior Sevara Tursunboeva and freshman Misha Braski came away with a 6-3 victory over Jane Gorman and Breonna Foster.  Sophomores Alyssa Thompson and Audrey Rocks are now 2-0 as doubles partners after finishing off Lyndsie Crawford and Shaina Duchard, 7-5, at third doubles.  With the match tied at 5-5, the Abington duo held serve and broke for a 7-5 win.

* In singles play, Abington recorded a pair of shutouts in the match.  Zollner won her fourth match of the fall with a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Gordon at first singles.  Zollner lost just three games the entire fall. At fourth singles, Braski shutout Crawford in straight sets (6-0, 6-0).

* Rocks and Thompson both cruised in their respective matches.  Rocks defeated Foster in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0 at fifth singles, while Thompson won her sixth singles match against Duchard by identical 6-1 scores.

* Lilly trailed 3-0 in the first set to Lawal but came back to win the set, 6-4.  In the second set, Lawal tied the match with a 6-2 victory to force a third set tie-break. In the tie-break, Lilly scored the final four points to break up a 6-6 deadlock and win the point, 10-6.

* At third singles, Tursunboeva shutout Gorman in the first set, 6-0.  She then battled to a 7-6 victory in set two after winning the tie-break point, 9-7.
