How It Happened

* Abington dropped the first two sets by the scores of 25-21 and 36-34 and faced a 2-0 deficit in the match.  In the second set, the Nittany Lions used a 5-0 run late to tie the set at 19-19. From there it was back-and-forth with neither team able to convert set-point.  Both teams had multiple opportunities to close out the set but it wasn't until the Bears registered back-to-back kills from Madison Small and Alonna McCummings that earned the win at 36-34.

* In the third set, Abington used a 5-0 run to take a 14-10 lead and then went on a 5-1 run to expand its lead to 19-13. The Nittany Lions maintained the lead the rest of the way and took the set, 25-18, after a kill by sophomore Naomi Seymour capped the scoring.

* The Nittany Lions needed one more set to extend the match into a fifth and decisive set.  The fourth set went back-and-forth the entire time with neither team holding a lead larger than two points throughout. Abington prevailed with junior Ellie Van Otten connecting on the set-winning kill to give the Nittany Lions a 25-23 victory.

* In the fifth set, Ursinus jumped out to a 4-1 lead, but Abington answered with four straight points to take a 5-4 advantage with three of the four points coming off kills by Jamaladdin. After two quick kills by Ursinus' Molly Stevenson, Abington went on a 6-0 run to take an 11-6 lead. The Bears rallied and came within one point of the Abington lead at 11-10.  The Nittany Lions fired back with a kill from Van Otten followed by an ace to increase the lead to 13-10. Despite the three-point edge, Ursinus closed the set by scoring the next five points to take the set, 15-13.
