How It Happened

* In the opening set, Abington held the largest lead after a 4-0 run broke a 9-9 tie.  Senior Kayla Mason notched a pair of aces during the mini run as the Nittany Lions led 13-9.  Abington held on to the lead deep into the set until the Gators tied things up at 20-20.  After both teams exchanged points to make the score 21-21, the Nittany Lions closed the set with a 4-1 run to take the set, 25-22.  Sophomore Danielle Langham jumpstarted the run before three miscues by the Gators finished the rally.

* Abington trailed 13-10 midway through the second set, however a 7-1 surge gave the Nittany Lions a 17-14 advantage.  The Gators cut the deficit to 18-16, but the Nittany Lions answered with five answered points to take their biggest lead of the set at 23-16.  Senior Zayna Jamaladdin capped the run with an ace. The Gators answered with four straight points to make the score 23-20, but Abington held on for the win with freshman Kamilla Voinalovich recording the final point of the set for the 25-21 win.

* Notre Dame extended the match with a 25-23 victory in the third set. The Gators carried the momentum over into the fourth set and held a 17-12 advantage midway through.  However, a 5-0 run by the Nittany Lions tied the set at 17-17.  Abington capitalized off four attack errors by the Gators with a kill mixed in by Voinalovich to tie the set. Both teams went back-and-forth down the stretch before Abington broke a 21-21 tie with back-to-back kills by junior Ellie Van Otten and Jamaladdin.  Notre Dame's Gwen Abnett recorded a kill on the next rally but another two kills, this time by  Jamaladdin and Mason, clinched the set and match win at 25-22.
