Abington Falls to Brandywine, 6-1

Media, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's tennis team dropped a United East Conference (UEC) contest on the road against Penn State Brandywine by the score of 6-1 on Saturday afternoon at Ethel Sergeant Clark Smith Courts.

How It Happened

* Brandywine opened the match taking the team point in doubles play by winning first doubles, 6-2, and winning third doubles by forfeit. 
 
* The Abington duo of sophomore Maman Saly Mbengue and freshman Alyssa Thompson won their second doubles match over Emmalin Molinaro and Aaliyna Patel by the score of 6-2.
 
* Senior Soniyah Youngblood recorded the team's lone point with a three-set victory at second singles.  Youngblood dropped the first set against Sydney Mabry, 6-2, but bounced back with a dominant second set performance (W, 6-2) to tie match and force a third and decisive set.  Youngblood led early in the set, before it was tied 4-4.  She broke her serve and held her own for the 6-4 victory.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked just the third meeting between Abington and Brandywine since the 2023-24 season.  Abington is now 2-1 versus Brandywine in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Tuesday, April 14 as the Nittany Lions host Penn State Berks in the team's final home contest of the season.  Match time is set for 1 p.m. at the Abington Tennis Courts on campus.
