How It Happened (Game 1)

* A four-run fifth inning turned out to be the difference in the game.  Two early errors by the Griffins led to the Nittany Lions first run of the frame that tied the game at 2-2.  Sophomore Morgan Craig reached base on a fielding error and then a sacrifice bunt by freshman Marisa Maehrer moved Craig to second.  She stole third and scored after the throw by the catcher was off target.  Senior Emily Foxhill drew a walk and scored on a triple by Hacker to give the Nittany Lions a 3-2 lead.  Two batters later, Scotese connected on a two-run double to increase the lead to 5-2.

* Gwynedd got a run back in the bottom of the fifth after Hannah Smith recorded an inside the park home run with a hit down the right field line.

* Sophomore Jess Dinardo, who recorded her ninth victory of the season, held the Griffins to just one base runner the final two innings.  Dinardo finished the game with six strikeouts and is now nine K's away from 100 for her career.  She'll enter her next start with 91 career strikeouts.

Inside the Box Score (Game 1)

* Hacker finished the game 3-for-4 with a double and a triple.  Her third inning infield hit marked the 100th of her career as she became the eighth player in program history to reach the milestone. In the fifth inning, Hacker recorded her 16th career triple tying the program's all-time mark with former standouts Breanna Lineman (2014-17) and Hailey Gamble (2022-25).

* Foxhill also had multiple hits in the game as she went 2-for-2 with two runs.  She also reached base with a fifth inning walk.

* For Gwynedd Mercy, Smith went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Hannah Cohen finished 3-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

How It Happened (Game 2)

* In the night cap, Abington took advantage of two errors in the opening inning to take a 1-0 lead.  However, the Griffins responded in the bottom of the inning to tie the game after Cohen drove in a run with an infield hit.  Gwynedd Mercy took the lead in the second after a double steal led to the team's second run.

* The lead turned out to be short-lived as Abington tied the game on a fielding error by the Griffin's center fielder and then took the lead at 3-2 when senior Jill Thomas drove in Craig with a base hit to right-center field.

* The Nittany Lions added to their lead in the fourth after a Scotese double scored Hacker who reached base with a walk earlier in the inning.  The double by Scotese set a new single season record.

* Abington added some insurance runs in the fifth to lead 7-2.  Thomas, sophomore Riley Logan and junior Isabella Antosiewicz all had run scoring hits in the inning.

* The Griffins added to their run total with two runs in the sixth inning after a two-run double by Macey Harrold.  However, that would be as close as the home squad would get as Abington held on to the 7-4 victory.

Inside the Box Score (Game 2)

* Scotese finished the game 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI.  Her game one double tied the program's single season record with Lineman (2014) and Becca Dougherty (2016) at 15 and then her fifth inning two-bagger in game two set the new single season record at 16.

* Thomas went 2-for-4 with a double and a run and two RBI.

* Logan also went 2-for-4 with a double while scoring a run and driving in another.

* Freshman Iris Chapman (2-2) picked up her second win of the season after going five innings and allowing just one run.

* Junior Paula Casale recorded her first save of the season and the third of her career after pitching a scoreless seventh inning. Casale struck out one batter and is now inching closer to her 100th career punch out.  She'll enter her next appearance with 93 career strikeouts.

* For Gwynedd Mercy, Cohen finished 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Stephanie Jones went 2-for-4 with two runs.
