Abington Drops Regular Season Finale at Arcadia

Ambler, Pa. – The Penn State Abington baseball team dropped its regular season finale to Arcadia University by the score of 12-0 in a non-conference contest on Tuesday afternoon at Skip Wilson Field.

How It Happened
 
* The Knights jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the opening inning and never looked back.  Arcadia doubled its run total with four runs in the second with Noah Stennett highlighting the inning with a two-run double.
 
* Leading 6-0, the Knights added three runs in the third to make it a 9-0 game.  Kevin Wheeler came through with a two-run single in the inning.
 
* Arcadia scored another run in the fourth and had two in the sixth to cap the scoring at 12-0. 
 
Inside the Box Score
 
* Senior Zach Bauers, junior Akira Nakamura and freshman Jaxon Horvath accounted for the team's three hits in the game.  Horvath went 1-for-1 with a double and walked twice.
 
* Freshman John Busco reached base two times with a pair of walks.
 
* Freshman Jason Handfield pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless relief. Handfield finished his appearance with two strikeouts.
 
* For Arcadia, Wheeler went 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI, while Simon Abdullah finished 3-for-3 with a run and two RBI.
 
All-Time Series
Today marked the sixth meeting between Abington and Arcadia since the start of the 2012 season and the first since 2018.  The Nittany Lions are now 0-5-1 versus the Knights in the all-time series.
 
Next Up
Abington returns to action on Friday, May 1 as the Nittany Lions host Notre Dame of Maryland University in the Second Round of the United East Conference Tournament.  Game one of the three-game series begins at 12 p.m. with game two to follow.  An if-necessary game is scheduled for Saturday, May 2 at 1 p.m.
