Glassboro, N.J. – The Penn State Abington men's soccer team held its own against one of the top teams in Division III as the Nittany Lions fell just short to the 12^th ranked Profs, 1-0, in a non-conference contest Saturday night at the Rowan Soccer & Lacrosse Complex.

How It Happened

* The lone goal of the game came in the 39^th minute when Rowan's Dani Fluck Lozano scored his second goal of the season off a deflection. The Profs, who held the Nittany Lions without a shot in the first half, took a one-goal lead into halftime.

* In the second half, the Nittany Lions ripped off six shots, including two on-goal. Junior Mohamed Konneh nearly tied the game in the 70^th minute but his shot was stopped by Rowan's Mike Moore.

* Later in the half, senior Nick Lachawiec gave Abington an opportunity in the 83^rd minute but Moore came through with another stop to keep the score at 1-0.

* In the final minute Abington kept the pressure on with one last attempt to tie the game. Junior Frankie Rafferty's shot was off target going high as the Profs held on for the win.

Inside the Box Score

* Freshman goalkeeper Hector Ortiz made his collegiate debut as he made five saves in net for the Nittany Lions. Ortiz came through with three key stops in the second half to give Abington a chance to tie the game, including back-to-back attempts by the Profs in the 48^th and 51^st minutes. He also had a save in the 74^th minute keep it a one-goal game.

* Sophomore Aramis Shire led the two with two shots.

Tonight marked the first-ever meeting between Abington and Rowan.
