How It Happened

* Abington took the team point in doubles after winning both first and third doubles by identical 7-5 scores.  The first doubles team of junior Jana Zollner and freshman Lilly Downey defeated Arcadia's top doubles team of Jada Young and Jessie Friel.  After making it 6-5, Zollner won all four points for the game and the match for the 7-5 victory.

* At third doubles, sophomores Audrey Rocks and Alyssa Thompson trailed 3-0 early in the match to Arcadia's Kaylee Higgins and Nayah Johnson. The Abington duo then won four straight to take a 4-3 lead in the match.  The Knights eventually tied the score at 5-5, but the Nittany Lions held serve and then broke for the 7-5 win to secure the team point in doubles.

* In singles play, Zollner never trailed in her first flight matchup against Young.  She won in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.

* Downey rallied to win her second singles match against Higgins.  After dropping the first set, 7-5, Downey cruised to a 6-1 victory in the second set.  In the 10-point tiebreak, she won the first eight points en route to a 10-2 win.

* Senior Sevara Tursunboeva defeated Nicole Scannapieco in straight sets at third singles. Tursunboeva trailed the first set, 3-2, but went on to win four of the next five to take the set, 6-4. She then took the match with a 6-1 victory in set two.

* Freshman Misha Braski came away with a straight sets victory against Friel at fourth singles.  Braski won by identical 6-2 scores. It marked her first career singles win.

* Rocks also picked up her first career singles victory with a win at fifth singles over Michelle Planita.  Rocks won the first set, 6-4, and then took the match with a 6-2 triumph in set two.

* At sixth singles, Thompson won the eight-game pro-set with ease as she defeated Johnson, 8-1.
