Mike Evans enters his first season as an assistant men's basketball coach at Penn State Abington in 2017-18.
Evans arrives to Penn State Abington after 16 successful years as the Head Boys Basketball coach at Norristown High School. During his tenure at Norristown he compiled a record of 288-74. Evans was named Times Herald Coach of the Year in 2009, 2012 and again in 2014. He was inducted into the Norristown Hall of Fame/ Hall of Champions in 2013. His 2009 team finished as PIAA District One champions. In 2008, Evans’ team finished as PIAA District One and State runners up. Several of his teams were ranked in the top 10 in Suburban One for 10 consecutive years.
He played basketball in college at East Stroudsburg University where he received a bachelor’s in sociology and criminal justice.  In high school Evans was a standout basketball and football student-athlete while attending Norristown Area High School.
