Caytlin (Friis) Lihotz is headed into her 10^th season as the Penn State Abington head softball coach as she has totaled 133 career victories at the helm which ranks third most in program history. Lihotz has guided the Nittany Lions to the postseason each year, including a deep-run in the 2024 postseason as the team went 2-2 in the double-elimination tournament.
 
During her tenure, Lihotz has coached 23 All-Conference players as well as the program’s first-ever NFCA All-Region selections in Gretchen Yans and Lainey Scotese after the conclusion of the 2025 season.
 
Lihotz came from NCAA Division I Binghamton University where she was a decorated four-year starter for the Bearcats.  In 2015 the Bearcats won the America East Conference Championship where Lihotz was named to the All-Tournament Team for her outstanding play. In 2012 she was named to the America East All-Rookie Team after making 48 appearances that season. Over her career at shortstop, she recorded over 177 starts for the Bearcats with 91 hits and 62 runs batted in.  Lihotz was just as successful in the classroom earning America East Academic Honor Roll in 2014, and 2015. She graduated Binghamton University with her Bachelors of Science in human development.
 
After graduating from Binghamton, Lihotz began her coaching career as a softball instructor for The Newtown Rock and the NAC Sports Training Center. Lihotz landed her first collegiate coaching job as the Assistant Coach at University of the Sciences during the 2016-2017 season.
