Joe DiMento

Joe DiMento was named head baseball coach at Penn State Abington on Oct. 21, 2022.  DiMento has spent the previous four seasons on the Nittany Lions coaching staff.  In 2022, DiMento served as the team's top assistant as well as hitting coach and recruiting coordinator.  The Nittany Lions set a school record with a 33-11 record and led the nation in several categories including, home runs, runs, hits, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, doubles, walks per game and total bases. 
 

During his tenure with Abington, DiMento helped recruit and develop 21 all-conference players and nine all-region players, including the NCAA Division III National Player of the Year, Ryan McCarty.  McCarty went on to sign as an Undrafted Free Agent with the Toronto Blue Jays and spent this past summer on the team's Single-A squad in Dunedin, Fla.
 
In 2019, DiMento helped guide Abington to its first conference championship as the Nittany Lions won the NEAC title and earned the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.
 
Prior to joining Abington's staff in 2018, DiMento spent four seasons at his alma mater, Rutgers University-Camden, as an assistant coach working as the Catching Coordinator and Hitting Coach.  While on staff, Rutgers-Camden won its first NJAC Regular Season Title and earned its first NCAA Tournament appearance. 
 
DiMento graduated from Rutgers-Camden in 2014 with a degree in Marketing and Management with a Finance minor.  He was a four-year letterman and a two-time team captain during his playing career.
