Blystone Hired as Abington Women’s Volleyball Coach

Penn State Abington has announced that it has hired Doug Blystone to be the new women's volleyball coach.

For the past seven seasons, Blystone has served as the head coach of Saint Basil Academy, where he led the Panthers to the district semi-final match in his first year. In 2010, Blystone led the Panthers to the state playoffs, finishing 9th in the state, with two of the players in his program achieving recognition on the All-State Team.  Most recently, he led his high school team to two straight elite eight appearances in district play.

In 2011, the Panthers finished 18-2 overall and went on to win the AACA League Championship, with five of his players being named to the AACA All Star Team and four being recognized to the District I AAA All Star Team.

Blystone also has experience working with the High Line Volleyball Club. As the club director and coach, the club has shown strong leadership, demonstrated positive coaching, and earned much respect in the volleyball community.

Highly trained from USA Volleyball, Blystone earned the CAP (Coaches Accreditation Program) Level II certification and is also an IMPACT instructor with USA Volleyball. Blystone also served a term on the board for the regional USA volleyball organization (KRVA) as the player and coach development director.

Blystone's knowledge also extends beyond his coaching experience, as he was a standout player on the Widener University men's club volleyball team. He also participated in the Outdoor Grass A/AA Rated competition as well as the Indoor A Rated competition.

A member of USA Volleyball, Doug resides in Hatboro, Pa., and will be continuing his work with the High Line Volleyball Club.
