GLASSBORO, N.J. – The Penn State Abington women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on day one of the Rowan Invitational, hosted by Rowan University on Friday at the Esby Gym.
After dropping a 3-0 match to the host to start the day, the team came right back to post a 3-0 sweep over Centenary College (N.J.) to end the first day of the weekend competition.
The Nittany Lions worked hard but came up short against the Owls with a 25-18, 25-15, 25-10 decision, before rebounding in the night cap to defeat the Cyclones by scores of 25-17, 26-24, 25-15. The split puts the Blue and White at 10-14 on the year.
Sophomore
Rachel Bohl (Philadelphia, Pa.) posted a team-high 20 kills on the night with six service aces for a .263 attack percentage in the two matches played, while classmate
Victoria Lohman (Frederick, Md.) collected 31 digs in the split.
Sam Nelson (Doylestown, Pa.) was credited with 42 assists and nailed two aces of her own in the six sets played.
Abington will be back in action at the Rowan Invitational tomorrow with two more matches, beginning with a 10:00 a.m. meeting with Kenyon College before closing out the weekend against Hunter College at 2:00 p.m.
