Volleyball Split pair to Close Out Rowan Invite

GLASSBORO, N.J. – The Penn State Abington women's volleyball team split a pair of matches, defeating Hunter College, 3-2, after falling to Kenyon College, 3-1, on Saturday to wrap up play at the Rowan University Invitational at the Esby Gym.

Abington went 2-2 at the tournament and now stands at 12-16 on the year. Set scores against Hunter were 17-25, 25-23, 21-25, 25-23, and 15-13, while set scores against Kenyon were 27-25, 20-25, 25-27, and 17-25.

In the afternoon match against Kenyon, Sam Amaro (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Rachel Bohl (Philadelphia, Pa.) both posted a double-doubles with Amaro recording 15 kills and 12 digs followed by Bohl's 10 kills and 12 digs in the loss. Sophomore libero Victoria Lohman (Frederick, Md.) posted a team-high 26 digs, while Sam Nelson (Doylestown, Pa.) collected 26 assists.

In the closing match against Hunter, Amaro and Bohl paced the squad with 17 kills apiece with Amaro recording 18 digs for her second double-doubles of the day. Lohman tallied 23 digs on defense as Nelson collected a game-high 46 assists on the year.

Abington will look to close out conference play next weekend as the Nittany Lions travel to Lancaster, Pa. for the two-day crossover, hosted by Lancaster Bible College. The first match is slated for Friday, Oct. 17 as the Blue and White take on Wells College followed by SUNYIT and Morrisville State College on Saturday, Oct. 18 in hopes of clinching a playoff spot to close out the North Eastern Athletic Conference play.
