Nolan’s Two Goals Powers Abington Past Keuka

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. - The Penn State Abington women's soccer team traveled to upstate New York Saturday to play the Keuka College Wolfpack in a pivotal conference matchup. The Nittany Lions were victorious beating Keuka 3-1.  

Abington peppered Keuka goalkeeper Kenna Kosinski in the first half registering seven shots total with four of those shots on target. Margaret Sheridan (Horsham, Pa.) made four saves in the first half. Neither team would score after the first 45 minutes.

Kayla Nolan (Abington, Pa.) would tally her 13th goal of the season in the 48th minute to give Abington the 1-0 lead. Victoria Parker (Philadelphia, Pa.) garnered an assist on the play. A little over four minutes later in 52nd minute, Jennifer Cifuentes (Bensalem, Pa.) would give Abington a 2-0 lead. Cifuentes scored off a rebound, and Nolan had an assist on the goal.

Keuka would cut Abington's lead in half in the 56th minute as Jordan Fredell would score her sixth goal of the season, beating Margaret Sheridan on the near post. Hannah Dalle collected an assist on the goal.   

In the 68th minute, Kayla Nolan would score her second goal of the game on a penalty kick to give Abington the commanding 3-1 lead. Nolan now has 14 goals on the season. Abington outshot Keuka 23-15 for the game. Sheridan made seven saves total for the Blue and White.

With the win, Abington improves to 9-4 on the year (8-1 NEAC). They will return to action tomorrow as they square off against Wells College. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m. Please visit abingtonsports.com for all the latest news on your Penn State Abington athletic teams.
