Lancaster, Pa. - The Penn State Abington women's volleyball team wrapped up the NEAC Crossover hosted by Lancaster Bible, on Saturday October 18, by dropping a pair of matches against SUNYIT and Morrisville State.
In their first matchup with SUNYIT, Abington (12-18) fought hard against the pesky Wildcats. After getting down 0-2, the Lions battled back to take the third set 25-21. In the fourth set, Abington gave the Wildcats all they could handle, but came up just short falling 25-22. Overall, the Nittany Lions lost the match 3-1 by scores of 25-21, 25-11, 21-25, 25-22.
Sam Amaro (Philadelphia, Pa.) paced Abington with 17 kills. Amaro also recorded seven digs.
Victoria Lohman (Frederick, Md.) collected 15 digs, while
Sam Nelson (Doylestown, Pa.) was credited with 23 assists.
With the loss, Abington was officially eliminated from the NEAC playoff picture. SUNYIT earned the sixth and final spot with their victory over Abington.
In their second matchup against Morrisville State, the Nittany Lions dropped a heartbreaker in five sets 25-19, 25-27, 15-25, 25-17, 15-9.
Rachel Bohl led the Nittany Lion attack with 17 kills, two service aces, and 12 digs.
Sam Amaro recorded 26 digs, while
Victoria Lohman collected 24 digs.
Sam Nelson led Abington with 39 assists.
Abington returns to action next weekend as they travel up Route 611 to Doylestown to participate in the Delaware Valley College tri-match. They play Del-Val at 10:00 a.m., followed by Alvernia University at noon.
