Allentown, Pa. - The Penn State Abington women's basketball team improved to 2-0 on the season Saturday, as they defeated host Cedar Crest College, 66-36, in the Hilton Garden Inn Tournament hosted Cedar Crest College.
Abington (2-0, 0-0 NEAC) shot 53.1% from the field for the day. They picked up 22 rebounds and shot 68.8% from beyond the arc.
Abington established an offensive rhythm early as they jumped out to an early 14-7 lead just seven minutes into the game. Four players for Abington registered double digits in points for the game.
Stephanie Keyes (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) shot 6 of 12 from the field in the game. In total, Keyes registered 17 points to lead all scorers in the game.
Jessica Schmidt (Abington, Pa.) was second among all Abington players with 16 points.
Janaiah Elum (Philadelphia, Pa.) added 12 points and two rebounds, while
Kyra Lunsford (Vineland, N.J.) collected 11 points and eight rebounds.
Abington will return to action tomorrow as they will play Lehman College in the championship game of the Hilton Garden Inn Tournament. Tip-Off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
