Abington, Pa.- The Penn State Abington women's basketball team opened up NEAC play Saturday with an easy 86-44 victory over Penn State Berks.
Abington (4-1, 1-0 NEAC) shot 50.0% from the field for the day. They picked up 45 rebounds and shot 48.3% from beyond the arc. Abington jumped out to an early 17-8 lead just eight minutes into the game.
Stephanie Keyes (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) shot 3-of-7 from the field in the first half. In total, Keyes registered nine points in the first half.
Janaiah Elum (Philadelphia, Pa.) was second among all Abington players in the first half with seven points.
Berks struggled to gain any offensive rhythm for the entire game. Abington would take a 43-22 lead into half.
The second half was much like the first half with Abington dominating in all facets of the game. Elum all scorers in the contest with 25 points and three assists. Keyes tallied 22 points on the day on 8 of 14 shooting. She was 6-of-11 from beyond the arc.
Jessica Schmidt (Elkins Park, Pa.) added eight points and four rebounds, while
Breanna Lineman (Philadelphia, Pa.) had eight points and 10 rebounds.
Abington will return to action on Tuesday, January 6th, as they host Gallaudet University. Tip-Off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
