Abington, Pa.- The Penn State Abington women's basketball team got back into the win column Tuesday evening after a month off, as they downed Gallaudet University 48-28.
Abington (5-1, 2-0 NEAC) shot 40% from the field for the day. They picked up 30 rebounds and shot 35.3% from beyond the arc. Abington jumped out to an early 7-2 lead just five minutes into the game.
Janaiah Elum (Philadelphia, Pa.) shot 3-of-7 from the field in the first half. In total, Elum registered six points in the first half.
Kyra Lunsford (Vineland, N.J.) was second among all Abington players in the first half with five points.
Gallaudet would struggle to gain any offensive rhythm for the entire game. Abington would take a 27-2 lead into half.
The second half was much like the first half with Abington dominating in all facets of the game. Elum and Lunsford led Abington in the contest with 11 points.
Jessica Schmidt (Elkins Park, Pa.) added 10 points and 8 rebounds.
Abington will return to action this Thursday, January 8th, as they travel to Chambersburg, Pa. to take on Wilson College. Tip-Off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
