Volleyball Kicks Off NEAC Crossover With Pair of Wins

COBLESKILL, N.Y. – The Penn State Abington women's volleyball ( team picked up a pair of wins in their North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opener with a 3-0 sweep over host SUNY Cobleskill and the Wildcats of Cazenovia College Friday night.

Two players recorded double-doubles in the first matchup versus the Fighting Tigers with sophomore Sam Amaro (Philadelphia, Pa.) leading the Blue and White on offense with 14 kills and 13 digs followed by classmate Rachel Bohl's (Philadelphia, Pa.) 13 kills and 14 digs on the night.

Sophomore setter Cricket Lennon (Bethlehem, Pa.) was credited with 17 assists, while libero Victoria Lohman (Frederick, Md.) posted 24 digs as the Nittany Lions picked up their first NEAC victory of the season with a 25-17, 25-16, 31-29 decision.

In the second conference matchup versus Cazenovia College, the Nittany Lions continued it offensive attack, posting a .247 hitting percentage with Amaro leading the squad once again with 15 kills and 12 digs, her fourth double-doubles of the year, and a pair of blocks. Bohl tallied five kills and 14 digs with a solo block, while Lennon added 24 assists to her total of 41 on the night. Lohman would also close out the day with 39 digs after recording 15 in the final matchup as the Nittany Lions swept the Wildcats 25-18, 25-7, 25-16.

With the two wins, Abington improves to 2-0 in conference play and 5-7 on the year and will look to close out the weekend undefeated with a matchup tomorrow at noon versus Keuka College.
