CAZENOVIA, N.Y. - The Penn State Abington men's soccer team captured their second victory of the season with a 2-0 win over Caznovia College.
Both teams played strong defensively in the first half with each team tallying four shots. Abington struck first midway through the first half as
Guy Sikpa (Monrovia, Liberia) managed to head the ball into the net to give the Blue and White the early lead.
Twelve minutes later, the Nittany Lions would strike again in the 29th minute thanks to
Alex Martins (Philadelphia, Pa.) speedy play as he slips the ball past the Cazenovia goalkeeper's hands to give Abington a comfortable 2-0 lead.
The second half was all about ball possession for the Blue and White, taking six shots in the stanza as Abington continued to defuse the host's attack, limiting the Wildcats to just three shots in the half.
Abington goalkeeper
Dan Saint-Pol (Perkasie, Pa.) stood poised in goal throughout the game, saving four shots and stopping any chances the Wildcats had for his first shutout of the season.
With the win, the Nittany Lions improve to 2-3-3 on the year (2-0-2 NEAC). They will return to action tomorrow as they square off against Morrisville State. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m. Please visit abingtonsports.com for all the latest news on your Penn State Abington athletic teams.
