MORRISVILLE, N.Y. - The Penn State Abington women's soccer team completed a perfect road trip to the Empire State this weekend with a 3-0 victory Sunday afternoon against Morrisville State.
Abington would get off to a good start in the 21
st minute as freshman defender
Jill Osborn (Philadelphia, Pa.) would score her second goal of the season. Osborn received a nice cross pass from
Elizabeth Jones (Philadelphia, Pa.), and buried the ball behind Morrisville keeper Angela Marriott.
The Blue and White would continue to pressure the Mustangs throughout the remaining 25 minutes of the first half.
Elizabeth Jones had a good chance to extend the Nittany Lion lead, but Marriott made a nice save for Morrisville. Abington would head into the half with a 1-0 lead. The Lions outshot the Mustangs 9-0 in the first 45 minutes of play.
Abington's offense and defesne would continue to roll in the second half.
Victoria Parker (Philadelphia, Pa.) had a glorious opportunity in the 56
th minute, but her shot rang off the post. A little over five minutes later, Abington's
Jill Osborn would net her second goal of the game to give the Nittany Lions a 2-0 lead.
Megan Murphy (Warminster, Pa.) drew an assist on the play.
Parker would get a chance to redeem herself in the 70
th minute as she fired a shot over Angela Marriott's head to give Penn State the commanding 3-0 lead.
Molly Wyman (Abington, Pa.) registered an assist on the play.
Abington outshot Morrisville State 20-2 for the contest.
Margaret Sheridan (Horsham, Pa.) recorded her sixth shutout of the season.
With the win, Abington improves to 7-3 on the year (6-1 NEAC). They will return to action next Tuesday Sept. 30 for senior night at Hatboro-Horsham High School against Lancaster Bible College.
