YORK, Pa. – The Penn State Abington women's volleyball team wrapped up the York College Invitational, dropping a pair of afternoon matches to Stevenson University and Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU)-Florham, 3-0, on Saturday, September 27.
In the first matchup versus Stevenson University, Abington (7-11) struggled to find rhythm against the Mustangs (15-1), who is 15-1 on the year, as the Nittany Lions posted just 13 kills in the 3-0 loss by scores of 25-12, 25-11, 25-11.
Sophomore
Breanna Lineman (Philadelphia, Pa.) led the squad with five kills and three solo blocks, while classmate
Victoria Lohman (Frederick, Md.), who achieved the 1,000 career digs Friday night, collected 17 digs.
The competition continued to become tougher in the final match versus FDU-Florham (13-12) as the Nittany Lions dropped a 25-18, 25-9, 25-13 decision to the Devils with sophomore
Rachel Bohl (Philadelphia, Pa.) leading the attack with 10 kills and seven digs. Teammate
Sam Amaro (Philadelphia, Pa.) collected 12 digs, while
Sam Nelson (Doylestown, Pa.) was credited with 21 assists in the 3-0 loss.
The Nittany Lions will return to action on Wednesday, October 1
st when they host Rutgers-Camden University for the 7:00 p.m. non-conference match.
