Williamsport, Pa. - The Penn State Abington men's basketball team got back into the win column Tuesday night, as they defeated Penn College by a 90-64 margin.
Ten minutes into the game, Abington would jump out to an early 14 point lead. Abington's dominance over the Wildcats would continue as the Nittany Lions took a commanding 53-30 lead into the dressing rooms. Abington was red-hot shooting the ball in the first half.
Abington was 20-for-36 (55.6%) from the field during the first 20 minutes, while Penn College shot the ball at a 25.6% rate (11-for-43) in the first half.
Max Alton (Pennington, N.J.) led all scorers in the first half with 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Alton hit five three-pointers in the first half on 5-of-6 shooting. As a team, Abington was an incredible 9-for-15 (60.0%) from beyond the arc in the first half.
After the break, Abington's dominance continued. At one point in the second half, their lead swelled to as much as 28 points.
Max Alton's (Pennington, N.J.) 31 points on 11-of-15 shooting led all scorers for the game.
Josh Bair (Oakford, Pa.) added a career-high 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting.
Dequan Jackson (Philadelphia, Pa.) chipped in 13 point of his own.
Abington (4-8, 3-2 NEAC) shot 33-for-66 (50.0%) from the field for the game, while Penn College shot 25-for-81 (30.9%) from the field. The Blue and White were 13-for-25 (52.0%) from three-point land, while Penn College was 7-for-28 (25.0%) from beyond the arc.
The Wildcats were led by Nate Brown's 13 points on 6-of-14 shooting. Thomas Ross added 11 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams finished with 49 rebounds.
Abington will return to action this Saturday, January 17
th, as they square off against the Keuka College Wolfpack. Game time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
