Chambersburg, Pa. - The Penn State Abington men's basketball team got back into the win column Thursday afternoon, as they defeated Wilson College 99-78.
Ten minutes into the game, Abington jumped out to any 18-10 lead. The Nittany Lion offense would pull away from Wilson late in the first half.
Abington was 20 -for-41 (48.8%) from the field in the first half, while Wilson shot the ball at a 38.2 % rate (13-for-34) during the first 20 minutes of play. Abington took a 51-31 lead into the dressing rooms.
After the break, Abington's dominance continued. At one point in the second half, their lead swelled to as much as 30 points.
Dequan Jackson's (Philadelphia, Pa.) 29 points on 10-of-18 shooting led all scorers for the game.
Devin Jones (Philadelphia, Pa.) had 26 points on 11-of-19 shooting. He also hauled in 11 rebounds.
Michael Davis chipped in 20 points and 11 rebounds on 8-of-16 shooting
Max Alton (Pennington, N.J.) added 18 points on 6-of-13 shooting.
Abington (3-7, 2-1 NEAC) shot 38-for-72 (52.8%) from the field, while Wilson shot 32-for-76 (42.1%) from the field for the game. The Blue and White were 7-for-18 (38.9%) from three point land, while Wilson was 11–for-35 (31.4%) from beyond the arc.
Wilson was led by Mylan Ward's 22 points on 10-of-16 shooting. Ben Holl added 18 points and six rebounds. Abington outrebounded Wilson 47-37 for the game.
Abington will return home this Saturday, January 10th, as they host 8-1 Lancaster Bible College. Game is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. tip-off.
