ABINGTON, Pa – Two goals from
Emily Kennedy (Montgomeryville, Pa.), and another from
Mallory Mugnier (Glenside, Pa) gave the Penn State Abington women's soccer team a 3-0 win over Keuka College, Saturday afternoon.
With the win, the Nittany Lions are in prime position for the North Eastern Athletic Conference Tournament with a record of 10-4 and 8-1 in the NEAC. Keuka College remains in the hunt for the NEAC playoffs with a record of 8-7-2 and 7-3-1 in conference.
Mugnier's goal in the 9
th minute brings her to the second most in program history with 24 for the senior forward.
Kennedy's brace came early in the second half, when
Molly Wyman (Abington, Pa.) passed through the defense and the sophomore forward beat the keeper to the right post in the 63
rd minute. Moments later in the 67
th minute senior defender
Ashley Quenzer (Philadelphia, Pa.) raced down the left flank and crossed the ball for Kennedy to slot in the right post for her 13
th goal of the season.
After today, Kennedy moves into 4
th place for single season goals behind Mugnier (14), Brittany Middleton (14) and
Kayla Nolan (17).
The Nittany Lions look to continue their streak tomorrow as they host Wells College at 2:00 p.m.
