Women's Soccer Fall Short to Stockton, 4-2

ABINGTON, Pa – Sophomore forward Emily Kennedy (Montgomeryville, Pa.) scored her seventh goal of the season early into the game, but the Penn State Abington women's soccer team couldn't hold on as they fell to Stockton University 4-2, Wednesday afternoon.

The Nittany Lions drop to 6-4 on the year, while Stockton improves to 8-2-3.

With her seventh goal of the season, Kennedy enters the top ten in single season goals after today's game.

In the 4th minute of the match Kennedy opened with a run down the right wing, when she beat the defender with a cut into the box and slotted the ball past the keeper for the goal.

Stockton pressured Abington for the majority of the first half with the defense holding off the Ospreys, but with nine seconds remaining in the half, Stockton equalized with a goal curled into the left post.

In a lively second half, the Ospreys took the lead in the 57th minute.  Abington pressured right after and capitalized on a bad pass by the defender that rolled past the keeper for an own goal to equalize for the Nittany Lions.

Stockton pulled ahead in the 63rd minute and finished off Abington in the 81st minute with another goal.

The Nittany Lions look to rebound when they host Cazenovia Saturday October 10, at 4:00 p.m.
