READING, Pa. – The Penn State Abington men's basketball team dropped its fifth game with a 94-75 loss against Penn State Berks Saturday afternoon. Abington falls to 0-5 for the year and 0-1 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference.

In a back-and-forth first half, the lead changed hands between both Penn State squads four times within the first minute of the game. The game slowed down and defense took over with both teams tied 8-8.

Berks held a slight 14-13 edge at the 16 minute mark, but a 14-2 run gave berks a comfortable lead into the final five minutes.Â

Senior
Devin Jones (Philadelphia, Pa.), and sophomore
Spencer Bartron (Camden, Del) hit three-point shots in the remaining minutes but Berks held a 45-33 lead at the half.

Berks came out hot in the second half, as they opened with an 11-0 run. A shot behind the arc from
Tom Pickwell (Churchville, Pa.) stopped the bleeding, as Berks held a 56-36 lead with 16 minutes remaining.

Abington battled back and came within 11 points on the heels of a three-pointer from Bartron, but Berks took control with a 10-0 run with nine minutes remaining.

Abington outscored Berks 26-24 in the final minutes behind a solid effort from freshman Kevin Pacheco (Bound Brook, NJ), who netted nine points and two assists in his seven minutes of action.

Bartron hit a career high 24 points and Jones recorded a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds on the day.

The Nittany Lions return to action with their first home game of the season, as they host Swarthmore on Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m.
