ABINGTON, Pa – After a tough conference loss to SUNY Poly yesterday, the Abington women's basketball team bounced back against SUNY Cobleskill defeating the Fighting Tigers 67-39, Sunday afternoon.
With the win the Nittany Lions improve to 14-4 and 11-3 in the NEAC, while the Fighting Tigers drop to 2-16 overall and 1-12 in the NEAC.
The Nittany Lions stifled Cobleskill in the first half only allowing 12 points and forcing 12 turnovers. Defensively Abington held the Fighting Tigers to 29% shooting from the floor and out-rebounded Cobleskill 24-15 going into the break, up 30-12.
In the second half Cobleskill clawed their way back to within 12, but a 15-0 run sparked by a Mallory Mugneir three-pointer sealed the victory for Abington.
Leading the Nittany Lions,
Stephanie Keyes contributed 15 points with three assists on the afternoon. Mugneir added a career high 11 points and three steals.
Abington opens up its road stretch on Wednesday as they travel to Reading to face off against Penn State Berks at 6:00 PM.
