Women’s Basketball Victorious Over Penn State Berks, 82-40

Reading, Pa.- The Penn State Abington women's basketball team got back into the win column Wednesday night, as they soundly defeated Penn State Berks 82-40.  
 
The Nittany Lions would dominate the game from start to finish as Abington jumped out to a 15-0 lead just four minutes into the game.

Stephanie Keyes (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) had seven of Abington's first 15 points scored, in what would be a big night for her and the Nittany Lion offense.
 
Abington would take a commanding 50-21 lead heading into the locker rooms.
 
Keyes was 5-of-11 from the field in the first half. In total, she registered 17 points in the opening 20 minutes to lead all scorers. Kyra Lunsford (Vineland, N.J.) was second among all Abington players in the first half with 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting.
 
After the break, Abington's offensive prowess over Berks would continue. A three-pointer from Keyes at the 5:34 mark would give Abington a commanding 73-38 lead.  
 
Keyes would finish the game with a game-high 29 points on 9-of-21 shooting. She was also 5-of-14 from three-point range. Lunsford added 21 points on 6-of-8 shooting and was 5-of-7 from beyond the arc. Jessica Schmidt (Elkins Park, Pa.) recorded nine points and 13 rebounds.
 
Abington (15-4, 12-3 NEAC) shot 43.1% (28-for-65) from the field for the game. In total, the Blue and White picked up 46 rebounds and shot 46.4 % from beyond the arc.
 
Abington returns to action this Saturday, February 14th, as they travel to New York to square off against Cazenovia College. Game time is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start.
